Regionality creates trust. The EU-protected indications of origin PDO, g.A., g.A. and g.t.s. stand for products of particular origin, quality and tradition. LACON supports producers and associations from application to specification to annual inspection — for verified authenticity and protection against imitation.
In the case of PGA, it is sufficient if part of the production or processing takes place in a specific region. The best known example is Steirisches Kürbiskernöl. This label combines quality with clear regional origin.
LACON is the only accredited and approved inspection body in Austria for the control and certification of Styrian pumpkin seed oil.
The G.a. marks products that are characterized by their traditional production and their close connection to Austria — such as Jagertee, Korn or Inländer Rum. It stands for regional quality and traditional craftsmanship.
LACON is the only accredited and approved inspection body for spirits in Austria with protected information and has been doing so since 2019.
G.t.s. highlights traditional manufacturing processes or compositions, regardless of the area of origin. Examples include Heumilch, Heumilchkäse. This seal protects proven recipes and quality craftsmanship.
PDO products come entirely from a specific region — from production to processing to manufacturing. Typical examples includeVorarlberger Bergkäse and Wachauer Marille. This name guarantees the highest regional authenticity and tradition.
LACON is the only accredited and approved inspection body in Austria for Vorarlberger Bergkäse PDO and Vorarlberger Alpkäse g.U.
